This extension takes you beyond the trek and into two must-see regions of Nepal, each offering a completely different experience. You’ll discover Pokhara, known for its peaceful lakes, Himalayan panoramas and relaxed mountain atmosphere, and Chitwan National Park, famous for its tropical jungle landscapes and world-class wildlife safaris.

After your main tour ends on Day 16, extend your stay to relax, explore, and enjoy time with your new travel friends. Expect a mix of cultural experiences and scenic viewpoints - perfect for squeezing every last drop of Nepal into your journey.

How it works:

• Day 1 of the extension begins immediately after your main tour ends (your final day of the main trip).
• You’ll stay in comfortable accommodations, enjoy local meals, and all transportation and activities are fully arranged so you can make the most of your time, guided by a Hardest Adventures rep or local expert depending on your chosen activities.

Adventure Begins

After saying goodbye to the team heading home, you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the rest of your group before setting off on a scenic drive to Pokhara. You will wind through lush green hills, terraced farmlands, and sparkling rivers like the Trishuli and Marsyangdi, passing charming villages and observing the rhythms of rural Nepali life. As you gradually ascend into the Pokhara Valley, you will be treated to stunning mountain views and colorful settlements, setting the scene for the adventure ahead.

Arrival & Evening at Lakeside: 

Check in to your 3* hotel in Pokhara and enjoy a stroll along Phewa Lake, perfect for photography, local shopping, or relaxing after the drive.

Pokhara Sightseeing & Sarangkot Sunrise

Start early with a 20-minute drive to Sarangkot to catch the Himalayan sunrise, including views of Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Annapurna II.

After breakfast, explore Devi’s Fall and Gupteshwar Cave, then visit World Peace Pagoda and the towering Shiva Statue at Pumdikot for panoramic mountain and valley views.

Evening is free to relax or take a boat ride on Phewa Lake.

Watching the first light hit the Himalayas from Sarangkot.

Drive from Pokhara to Chitwan - Tharu Culture & Riverside Sunset

Today you will head from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park - one of the best safari destinations in the world - descending into the tropical Terai plains. You will stop to photograph traditional Tharu villages and lush farmland along the way.

After check-in, you will explore a Tharu village, learning about local customs and traditions, and witness the vibrant Tharu stick dance (Danda Nach). You will finish the day with a peaceful sunset walk along the Rapti River, enjoying the calm surroundings and golden light.

Chitwan Jungle Safari & Canoe Ride

Start early for a jeep safari in Chitwan National Park, spotting wildlife such as one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, sambar deer, and visiting the Gharial Breeding Center.

After lunch, enjoy a peaceful canoe ride on the Rapti River, spotting crocodiles and waterbirds.

Morning Bird Watching & Flight to Kathmandu

Today is your last day in Chitwan, so we’ll make the most of it with an early morning bird-watching session around the resort, home to over 540 species including hornbills, kingfishers, and peacocks. 

After breakfast, we’ll drive 30 minutes to Bharatpur Airport for a scenic 25-minute flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel with the afternoon free to explore local markets or relax at a café.

Aerial views of the Terai plains and rivers on the flight to Kathmandu.

Departure from Kathmandu
