Through Fundraising
You're in for a proper city adventure, with full or half marathons of grit, iconic monuments, and the beat of a city pushing you on all the way to the finish line by Praça do Comércio. This is the Lisbon Marathon, stunning coastline, a beautiful city, and 26 miles of memories to last a lifetime.

We believe that world-class challenges shouldn't just be for those with deep pockets, and they should support the causes we care about. That's why we've built an industry-leading fundraising model that puts the power back into the hands of the community.

Touch down in Lisbon and head straight to the Sport Expo to collect your Lisbon Marathon bib. Admin done, we're jumping on Tram 28 into the Alfama, Lisbon's oldest neighbourhood, a tangle of medieval streets and hilltop viewpoints with the Tagus glittering below. Find a Fado house, order a Vinho Verde, and let the city set the tone.

We head to Belém for a light shake-out along the Tagus riverfront, the same stretch you'll be racing tomorrow. Then it's straight to the Pastéis de Belém bakery for the only pre-race fuel that matters: custard tarts made to a secret recipe unchanged since 1837. Legs loose. Glycogen loaded. Ready.

This is it. The 8:00am gun fires in Carcavelos on the Atlantic coast and you're off. The first 25km of the Lisbon Marathon route hug the ocean, rolling and relentless, before pivoting inland along the Tagus.
The Finish: You cross the line at Praça do Comércio, Lisbon's grand riverside square, with the Tagus behind the finish arch and the city in front of you. It's one of the most beautiful finishes in European marathon running.
The After-party: And the fun doesn't end there as we've organised our own venue for an outrageous afterparty. The beveraginos will be flowing and the dance floor will call all our names as we celebrate everything we've accomplished together.

Legs are done, so we keep it slow. A gentle walk through Belém to the Jerónimos Monastery: UNESCO-listed, built to celebrate the Age of Exploration, and the resting place of Vasco da Gama. It's been standing since 1502. It doesn't care about your sore quads. One last pastel de Belém, then home.
This trip takes on the full 42.2km EDP Lisbon Marathon, a point-to-point route from the Atlantic coast at Carcavelos to a finish on the Tagus at Praca do Comercio. If you have been weighing up the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon, this is the same iconic Lisbon riverside racing at double the distance.
~240m total ascent in the first 25km, then flat. The course runs 100% along water: the Atlantic coastline from Carcavelos for the opening half, then the Tagus riverbank into central Lisbon. The final kilometre crosses historic cobblestones at Praça do Comércio.
14–19°C in October. Close to ideal, with mild autumn sunshine and a coastal breeze off the Atlantic.
12 stations at km 5, 9.5, 15, 20, 22.5, 25, 27.5, 30, 32.5, 35, 37.5, and 40, stocked with water, Powerade, energy gels, and fruit.
Oeiras coastal gardens, the UNESCO-listed Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower, the entire Tagus riverbank, and a finish at Praça do Comércio, Lisbon's grand riverside square opening directly onto the water.
IAAF Gold Label-certified with a strong international field. Continuous, vocal support for the first 30km along the coast; quieter between km 33 and 40 before building strongly again through Belém and the riverside finale.
A unique dual character: Atlantic ocean for the first half, Tagus river for the second. Portuguese music and street performers throughout. The passage through historic Belém, past the Tower and the Monastery, is widely considered one of the most beautiful stretches in world marathon running.
Your place in the EDP Lisbon Marathon, full or half, is locked in. BIB with chip, runner bag, and a kit bag with an official Lisbon Marathon technical t-shirt.
Water and gel stations throughout the marathon route, and a finisher medal and diploma waiting at the line to mark the achievement.
Central accommodation in Lisbon, a hostel close to the race route and the city's landmarks, with a bed and a hot shower waiting after the race.
A Hardest Adventures rep is in-country with you throughout the challenge, backed by a 24/7 UK emergency line active the whole time.
And All Of This
That's the deal. Everything on race weekend is our problem. Before you fly, you've got exactly four jobs:
Get yourself to Lisbon and back. We take it from there.
A policy that covers you for the trip and the race. Non-negotiable.
Sort a visa if you need one for Portugal. Most UK students won't.
We build your structured training plan. You put in the miles.
Not included in your trip price: flights to and from Lisbon, travel insurance, visas (if required), transport around Lisbon (outside marathon day), activities in Lisbon, meals not specified in the itinerary, and personal spending.
Hardest Safety Net - After booking you have a 2-week window to change your mind and receive a full refund, no questions asked.
Choose Your Payment Plan
Settle the £465 (full marathon) or £455 (half marathon) in one payment at booking. No further admin, no follow-up emails.
Secure your place with a 20% deposit of your chosen registration fee (from £16 on the half marathon, £18 on the full), then pay £50 plus equal monthly instalments until three months before your trip, or clear the remainder by 8th April 2027 for the October 2027 race. And we're treating you right, this is valid for both paid and fundraising plans.
