“There's something quite nice about having no choice but to slow down and enjoy where you are.”
“I've been lucky enough to travel to over 70 countries across six continents, spending more than three years travelling around the world full time. I'm now back living in London, fitting shorter trips (well, for me) around work and everyday life, but trying to make those trips a bit more unique and bucket-list-worthy. Everest Base Camp feels like the perfect next challenge. The longest multi-day hike I've done so far is five days, so this is definitely a step up! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone on the trip and seeing how we all get on over the course of the trek!”

Your Everest Base Camp trek starts the moment you touch down in Nepal and get your first taste of the chaos. Your Hardest Adventures rep will grab you at the airport and drop you in Thamel. From there, explore Kathmandu however you see fit! We recommend heading to Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple. You can climb the 365 steps to the top for a panoramic view of the valley. Hundreds of monkeys will be hanging around while the stupa eyes watch over the city.
Hardest highlightThe sunset from the Monkey Temple. Watching the lights of the city flicker on as the sun dips below the horizon is magic.

Today is for prep and palaces. We will hit the high street to browse the legendary Ghurka and hiking gear shops. Whether you need a fresh down jacket or a souvenir blade, this is the place. In the afternoon, we walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will see ancient red brick palaces and maybe catch a glimpse of the Kumari, the living goddess.
Hardest highlightThe gear hunt. There is nothing like the buzz of Thamel high street when you are scoring a deal on top tier trekking kit.

We take the world's most exciting flight to Lukla. The mountain views from the tiny plane are insane. Once we land, your Everest Base Camp trek officially begins. We hike for about 3 to 4 hours to Phakding. It is a gentle start through pine forests and past carved mani stones.
Hardest highlightThe Lukla landing. It is a short runway on the edge of a cliff. You will never feel more alive than when those wheels hit the tarmac.

We follow the Dudh Koshi river and cross the high Hillary Suspension Bridge. It is a long, steep climb up to Namche Bazaar. Your legs will burn, but the reward is the Sherpa capital itself. Namche is tucked into a massive horseshoe shaped mountain bowl.
Hardest highlightCrossing the high suspension bridges. Looking down at the glacial blue water while the bridge sways is a proper adrenaline spike.

You cannot rush the mountain. We stay in Namche to let our blood catch up with the altitude. We will hike up to the Everest View Hotel for a coffee with a view. You will get your first proper look at the big three: Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
Hardest highlightThat first unobstructed view of Everest. It is a massive, black pyramid looming over everything else.

We trek toward Tengboche. The trail winds around the mountainside with huge drops to the river below. We finish the day at Tengboche Monastery. It is the spiritual heart of the Khumbu region. You can sit in on the afternoon prayers and feel the deep calm of the mountains.
Hardest highlightThe chanting in the monastery. The sound of the long horns echoing against the peaks is something you will never forget.

The trees start to disappear as we head toward Dingboche. We are crossing the 4,000m mark now. The landscape turns from lush forest to rugged alpine scrub. We will be surrounded by massive peaks that feel close enough to touch.
Hardest highlightThe view of Ama Dablam. From this angle, it looks like a perfect, ice covered spire.

Another day to adjust. We will take a short but steep hike up Nagarjun Hill to get some more red blood cells moving. The rest of the day is for resting and hydration. You are in the thin air now, so take it slow.
Hardest highlightThe 360 degree mountain views from the top of the hill. You can see the entire valley laid out beneath you.

We trek toward Lobuche. The trail takes us past the memorials for fallen climbers at Thukla Pass. It is a sobering and powerful place. After the pass, we follow the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Keep an eye out for wild Yaks grazing on the sparse grass.
Hardest highlightThe Thukla Pass memorials. It is a moment of silence for the legends who came before us.

THIS IS IT! We trek to Gorak Shep and then make the final push to Everest Base Camp. You will be walking on the edge of the Khumbu Icefall, all the way through to reach base camp itself. Reaching the iconic rock at 5,364m is the peak of the entire trek to Everest Base Camp. Once you're there, you'll have completed one of the most iconic hikes in Nepal, and the world.
Hardest highlightTouching the base camp rock. You are standing where the world's greatest explorers start their summit bids.

We wake up in the dark for the climb to Kala Patthar. At 5,545m, this is the highest you will go. Watching the sun rise over the summit of Everest is the ultimate pay off. After the sunrise, we start the long trek down to Pheriche.
Hardest highlightThe sunrise on Everest. The mountain turns from purple to orange to brilliant gold in minutes.

We are heading back down toward Namche. The air gets thicker with every step, and you will feel like you have superhuman strength. We retrace our steps through the rhododendron forests and Sherpa villages.
Hardest highlightFeeling the oxygen return to your lungs. You will be moving faster and feeling stronger than ever.

The final day on the trail. We trek back to Lukla for our last night in the mountains. We will have a big celebration with our porters and guides. It is a night of local food, songs, and probably a few stories about the trek.
Hardest highlightThe final team dinner. Saying thanks to the crew who made the mission possible is a huge moment.

We catch the morning flight back to Kathmandu. After a hot shower, and some chill time, we will head for a rooftop bar like the Roadhouse or Sam's Bar. You will be sipping a cold Everest beer while watching the sun set over the city skyline. It is the perfect way to celebrate your extraordinary accomplishment. You have completed the Everest Base Camp trek, one of the great walks on earth.
Hardest highlightThat first rooftop view. Seeing the vast sprawl of Kathmandu from above while the prayer flags flutter around you.

Today you have the option to explore Kathmandu further! We highly recommend visiting the Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of the Bagmati River. It is the most sacred Hindu site in Nepal. You will see the ancient rituals and cremation ceremonies that have happened here for centuries. In the evening, head back to Thamel for some live music at Purple Haze or the House of Music.
Hardest highlightThe live music in Thamel. After weeks of mountain silence, the energy of a local rock band and a crowded bar is a wild contrast.

Our last day in the city. You have the morning free for some final souvenir shopping on the high street. Grab some yak wool blankets or some local spices to take home. Your rep will drop you at the airport for your flight back to reality.
Hardest highlightThe final look at the Himalayas from the plane window. You are leaving as a different person than when you arrived.

EVEREST BASE CAMP! What a trip of a lifetime. Not only was is the best physical challenge I have ever set myself but mental aswell. However there was never a doubt in my mind that I wouldnt be able to do it because of the AMAZING support from the guides and the team that I went with, especailly Sophia who I couldn’t have done it without. I have made friends for life. Be warned though because HA is an adictive organisation (in the best way) to be a part of and you might just find yourself signing up for another challenge like me doing kilimanjaro this summer. - Gracie
I decided to do the Everest Base Camp Trek as my quarter-life crisis and had an absolutely incredible time! The trip was very well run, full of amazing people and an experience I’ll never forget. Hardest Adventures are the real deal, will likely be signing up for another trip when I can.
Was fortunate enough to go on the Everest base camp trek this August, the most incredible trip. Sofia was our lead organiser and she truly made it special, it was incredibly well run with such a large group (30 people) with no issues at all. She gave everyone all the time in the world and leading up to the trip she helped with any questions or queries I had. Couldn’t recommend her and the company enough. Faultless
I went to Everest Base Camp with Hardest Adventures (then Endeavours Adventures) and had the absolute trip of a lifetime, great crowd, good trip organisation and support for admin/visas etc. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to explore some of the more physically challenging trips available in the world!
I took part in a really successful Everest Base Camp trek this summer in Nepal, organised and delivered by Hardest Adventures. The trip consisted of a group of approximately 25 people trekking from Lukla to Everest Base Camp, the trek was really well organised, with a massive thanks to Sofia who was our Hardest Adventures rep during the trek. She was always on hand to provide any guidance and information along the trip and was really supportive throughout the trek. Also a big thank you to all the Sherpas and porters who were extremely helpful and cheerful. I’d highly recommend anyone interested in completing a Hardest Adventures challenge to sign-up.
Just returned from the Everest base camp trek with hardest adventures and can easily say it was one of the best experiences of my life. The 2.5 weeks ran incroyable smoothly, the guides and leads were amazing, and the rest of the group were awesome too (including the amazing reps!) highly recommend.
